Hi, I’m Tammy!
I’m committed to providing the highest quality and level of musical instruction, in a warm and encouraging environment.
I started piano lessons at age 5, and continue to take personal lessons and perform. During my time as a pianist I have played with my church’s music team, accompanied choirs, singers and other musicians, played in a band, and have become an experienced soloist and accompanist. I additionally competed in music competitions and took home the highest award for piano in the state of Wisconsin, and accompanied several singers who also received highest awards. I was accepted into the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Music, but after my first year chose to shift my focus to the sciences, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Biology, followed by attending Northwestern Health Sciences University where I received a Doctor of Chiropractic Degree. After a successful career in chiropractic, I sold my practice to become a homemaker and teacher, and am excited to have returned to my first love, music.
My desire is to help students meet their piano goals, and to enjoy and excel at playing the piano. I’m patient, upbeat, and like to see students really understand music and grow in their ability to play. My lessons are challenging, but fun. I’m good at forming strong personal connections and find this to be an integral part of learning.
I love what I do and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with others. I’ve been privileged to see so many students discover their natural skills and abilities and reach results they never dreamed were possible. Please reach out if that sounds like something you’d like to explore!
BEGINNER FUNDAMENTAL PIANO LESSONS
$35 per 30 minute lesson.
These lessons are for students that have had no previous lessons, or have had lessons for less than one year (or resuming lessons after a long absence, if you feel like you'd like to review the fundamentals). I tailor the lessons I offer to meet each student's unique abilities, goals and needs. We will focus on understanding rhythm, note reading, and developing proper technique to create beautiful sound. Students will have a method book, and also be able to choose some of their own music as we progress. We will start playing songs at the very first lesson! INTERMEDIATE PIANO LESSONS
$35 per 30 minute lesson. $52.50 per 45 minute lesson.
When you sign up for my Intermediate Lessons, you can be assured of plenty of individual attention. We will focus on creating beautiful sound, and continuing to develop excellent technique. Each lesson involves an element of learning and theory but the majority of the class is devoted to putting that theory into practice. Get in touch to find out more.
ADVANCED PIANO LESSONS
$35 per 30 minute lesson. $52.50 per 45 minute lesson. $70 per 60 minute lesson.
When you sign up for Advanced Lessons (typically for students that have been playing for 9 or more years), we will focus on repertoire designed to advance the student's abilities in their desired areas of interest. Technique will become mastered, sound will become more rich and textured, advice will be given on gaining speed, avoiding tension, hand distribution and more.
